Pesticide is very effective against caterpillars...

We had a few deaths in the caterpillar family a while back when we made the mistake of feeding the caterpillars some parsley from the local supermarket. All of the cats that ate the parsley died, and rather quickly---within a few hours. We can only assume that it was residual pesticide on the parsley. While this parsley wasn't "organic", it may not be safe to feed them organic parsley either, as some sprays are allowed on organic produce as well.

Bottom line: to be safe, feed only home-grown or neighborhood-grown (and unsprayed!) food to your little rascals.
